Finishing-Group 1

Regular Layup
-This technique is for a right handed layup.
-Approach the right of the basket on an angle.
-Step down on your right foot as you catch or gather the basketball into two hands.
-Step forward and plant your left foot, driving your right knee up into the air for power and elevation. Lift your shooting-side knee and elbow together in a synchronized upward motion
-Extend your right arm upward. Keep the ball close to your body or tucked under your chin during the two-step gather to prevent defenders from stripping it.
-Guide the ball softly off the top-right corner of the backboard's square. Always use the backboard square rather than directly forcing the ball into the net.
-You can use an overhand or underhand release whichever feels most comfortable to you.

Power Finish
-The power finish uses the same technique for a layup as list above with the exception that the player jumps off two feet instead of one.
-Get low as you approach the paint to lower your center of gravity and create explosive power.
-Align your shoulders parallel to the backboard. This uses your body to shield the ball and keeps trailing defenders behind you.
-Land firmly on both feet simultaneously. Avoid an overly large stop that slows your momentum or a tiny stop that causes imbalance.
-Power straight up through your legs rather than jumping forward, utilizing the backboard for a soft, controlled finish.

Reverse Layup
-Dribble toward the basket along the baseline or from an angle.
-Gather the ball using standard layup footwork (right-left or left-right depending on the side) while shielding the ball with your body.
-Place your body between the defender and the basketball, using the rim as a physical barrier.
-Guide the ball up on the far side of the rim, using a soft touch or finger-roll motion off the backboard.
-Rotate your hand slightly under and outwards on the release to give the ball the proper spin off the backboard.
