Euro Step
-Dribble toward the basket to engage the primary or help-side defender.
-Pick up your dribble cleanly with both hands to establish your pivot and begin your legal two steps.
-Step wide in one direction to make the defender commit and lean that way.
-Quickly change direction by stepping laterally to the opposite side, moving around the defender's reach.
-Jump off that second foot and finish with a layup, floater, or finger roll before your feet touch the ground again.
Wrong Foot Layup
-A wrong foot layup is the same as regular layup with the exception that if you are shooting with your right hand, you jump off your right foot instead of your left foot.
-It alters the rhythm that shot-blockers expect, making it harder for defenders to time their block.
-Using the same leg lifts your body to create a shield between the ball and the defender.
-It lets you go straight up for a quick shot when you do not have room for a standard two-step rhythm.
-You can use your off-arm and leg to bump the defender and finish cleanly.
Inside Hand Scoop
-Pick up the ball directly off your dribble with your hand underneath rather than on top, avoiding a two-handed pickup.
-Position your torso and hips between the defender and the basketball to block potential reach-ins.
- Stretch your arm out low and away from the defender, scooping the ball upward with soft touch and slight topspin as your fingers roll toward the ceiling.
-Ideal when a defender is riding your hip or recovering from behind, keeping them blocked out as you extend forward. Great for sneaking shots past shot-blockers in the paint before they can time a traditional overhand jump.
