Rip Thru
-Catch the ball with a low base, knees bent, and the ball secured at your hip.
-Keep your elbows up to create physical space and stop defenders from reaching in.
- Rip the ball from one side of your body violently either low (by your knees) or high (above your shoulders). Never pass the ball through the center of your body where it can be easily stolen.
-Step across simultaneously with your rip to shield the ball with your body, then launch into a long push-out dribble toward the rim.
Double Rip
-Catch the ball in a low triple-threat stance with your knees bent, feet wide, and the ball secured tightly at your hip.
- Perform a rip thru as instructed above.
- As the defender bites or shifts to block your initial path, immediately rip the ball back across your body in the opposite direction.
- Take an explosive, long push-out step with your lead foot past the defender's hip, keeping the ball low and tight before launching into your drive or shot.
-Your eyes, shoulders, and initial ball movement must convince the defender you are fully committed to the first direction.
-Maintain an athletic, low center of gravity so you can change directions instantly without losing balance or speed.
