Up & Under
-Receive the pass in the low post with a wide, low, and athletic stance, keeping your back or side to the basket.
-Turn your shoulders toward the rim as if you are about to shoot a jump hook or jump shot, then execute a strong pump fake to get the defender to leave their feet.
-Keep your pivot foot firmly planted on the floor. Step through past the airborne defender toward the basket with your non-pivot foot.
-Explode off the floor and finish the play with a layup using the hand closest to the rim.
Midde Drive
-Receive the ball in a low, wide stance with a strong two-hand grip.
-Give a convincing head and shoulder fake toward the baseline. This forces the defender to shift their weight or step wide to cut off the baseline.
-Aggressively rip the ball low (below your knees) and take one or two powerful dribbles toward the middle of the key.
-Drive directly to get your body and shoulder on the defender's hip, sealing them behind you.
-Come to a strong two-foot jump stop or finish with a layup, using your body or the rim as a shield against secondary shot blockers.
Middle Drive & Spin Back
-Catch the ball in the post or mid-post with an active base, keeping your shoulder or hip sealing the defender.
-Attack toward the middle of the floor, putting your defender on your hip or back
-When you feel the defender jump out or slide their feet to cut off your middle path, prepare to counter.
-As the ball reaches your pocket, powerfully rip your elbow and protect the ball away from the defender.
-Drop your top (leading) foot directly towards the rim—not away from it—as you execute the reverse pivot/spin.
-Complete the rotation with the defender sealed safely on your back, then use a strong two-foot gather to finish near the basket.
Fadeaway
-Catch the ball in the post (near the low block) with a low, wide, and balanced stance, keeping your back to the defender.
-Back down your opponent with one or two controlled dribbles to gauge their pressure and body weight.
-Use a quick ball or shoulder fake in one direction (such as toward the middle of the lane or baseline) to make the defender lean or anticipate a standard turn.
-Plant your pivot foot, push off cleanly, and kick your other leg or swing your body away from the defender while elevating into your jump.
-Turn your torso slightly in mid-air to face or align with the rim, keep your eyes on the target, and release the shot at the peak of your jump.
