Post Moves-Group 4

Face Up, Jump Shot
-Receive the pass in a low, wide stance near the low block or short corner.
-Keep your inside foot (or outside foot depending on the sweep) planted securely on the floor. If you are right-handed, your left foot typically serves as your strong pivot foot.
-Spin on your pivot foot to swing your body around, facing the basket and creating separation from the defender.
-If the defender gives you space out of fear of a drive, rise directly into a clean mid-range jump shot.

Face Up, Attack
-Receive the ball a step or two out from the low block in a balanced, wide, and low stance.
-Use a forward or reverse pivot on your inside foot to turn and face the defender immediately. Keep your knees bent to stay explosive.
-Watch how the defender plays you. If they crowd you, prepare to drive; if they give you space, prepare to shoot.
-Use a jab-step, shot fake, or rip thru then attack.
-Take one or two max hard dribbles, protect the ball, and finish with a layup or use the rim as a shield against shot-blockers.

Sky Hook
-Start with your back to the basket in the low post. As you make your move, turn your body so your side (perpendicular) faces the hoop, placing your torso and non-shooting arm between the defender and the ball.
- Take a long, aggressive first step with your inside foot to seal the defender behind you. Keep the ball high and secure with both hands near your shoulder.
-Pull your trailing foot up in a swing step, driving your knee upward for vertical momentum while jumping off your single pivot foot. Do not fade away.
- Extend your shooting arm straight up over your shoulder in a high, sweeping arc. Release the ball smoothly off your fingertips at the absolute peak of your jump. Use your non-shooting arm and elbow as a shield to keep the defender away from the ball.

Shimmy
-Receive the pass in the post with a balanced stance, ideally catching with both feet in the air or a solid wide base so either foot can serve as your pivot.
-Chin the ball or keep it tight and away from the defender using your body as a shield.
-Flutter or shake your shoulders and upper body quickly in one direction (making it look like a rip-through or a fadeaway setup) to unbalance or freeze the defender.
-Once the defender shifts their weight or hesitates, spin, fade, or explode past them in the opposite direction to finish at the rim or pull up for a jumper.
