Boxing Out
-Find your assigned player the moment a shot goes up instead of watching just the basketball.
-Step into your opponent and use your forearm or lower body to feel their movement.
-Drop your hips into a strong athletic stance with your knees bent and feet wider than shoulder-width.
-Back into your opponent using your lower body and butt to push them away from the rim.
-Put your elbows out and hands up to occupy more space and maintain balance without fouling.
-Grab the rebound.
Offensive Rebound and Put Back
-Do not bring the ball down below your shoulders or waist upon landing, as defenders will steal it.
-If you cannot instantly tip it in mid-air, land on the balls of your feet with a wide base, balance quickly, and go straight back up with power.
-Aim your put-back softly off the backboard square for a high-percentage close-range score.
Offensive Rebound and Pass to a Teammate
-Bring the ball directly under your chin with your elbows out wide to protect your space and create a strong pivot foundation.
-Land on two feet with bent knees in a strong athletic stance, then pivot away from heavy traffic to survey the floor.
-Spot an open perimeter shooter or guard, and deliver a sharp chest or overhead pass to reset the offense.
Outlet
-Rebound the ball.
-Pivot on your outside foot (away from the middle of the lane and the basket) to shield the ball and maintain vision up the floor.
-Look up court immediately. Your teammate playing the outlet position should shuffle, yell "outlet," and present a clear target.
-Deliver a sharp chest, overhead, or baseball-style lead pass to initiate the fast break before the defense can recover.
