Dribbling
You want to
use your fingertips to dribble not your palms
We’re
dribbling the ball not slapping the ball or dropping the ball
Snap the
wrist at the end of the dribble
Keep your
hand on top of the ball never put your hand under the ball that is a carry
The James Harden
photo demonstrates what not to do-This is a carry

By keeping
your hand on top of the ball you can dribble hard but keep it low

Don’t
Dribble Above the Waist

You want
your hand on the ball as much as possible
Use your elbow to move your hand and receive the ball low
Always
dribble with your eyes up-Never look at the ball, the floor or five feet in
front of you, EYES UP
We practiced keeping our eyes up by having a partner toss a tennis ball to the dribbler while moving
The dribbler
catches the ball and tosses it back
This works
on keeping the eyes up and hand eye coordination
The picture
below shows a player tossing a ball against the wall. This can be done if the player does not have
a partner.

Then we
practiced dribbling a tennis ball. If
you can dribble a tennis ball you can dribble a much bigger basketball.
